First Appearance Harvest Moon 64
Aliases

Originally had a large role as Karen's father in the N64 release, his role became slightly smaller (but not insignificant) as the town carpenter whose family passed away during a winter storm. In the later iterations as a carpenter, Gotz remodels buildings and even sells materials.

  • Harvest Moon 64 - Owner of the vineyard with his wife, Sasha and daughter, Karen. He is known to have a temper and the poor yearly harvests coupled with financial burdens exacerbate it to the point where him and Karen fight regularly. Should the protagonist not befriend Karen in the first year, she will leave town forever and Gotz's dialogue will be permanently depressed. If the protagonist restores the vineyard soil and Karen gets married, he will have permanently upbeat dialogue.
  • Harvest Moon: Back to Nature - Owner of the carpenter shop in the mountains south of the protagonist's farm. He will sell construction materials and upgrade the buildings on the farm. His personality is gruff but kind and will admit that he can't quite cook being a bit of a bachelor. If befriended, he reveals that his wife and child died in a blizzard while getting lost in the mountains, thus will always caution the main character to practice safety. The entomologist, Louis will take shelter in his cabin to study the surrounding nature.
  • Harvest Moon: Friends/More Friends of Mineral Town - Same role as "Back to Nature." Louis does not stay in his cabin, though.
  • Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town - Same role as "Friends/More Friends of Mineral Town." It's explicitly pointed out in this game that Gotz shelters people in need. He mentions that an entomologist named "Chuu" (probably the original Japanese name of "Louis," the localized name) used to crash at his cabin. Now, Brandon lives in Gotz's second room after Gotz rescued him from getting lost and starving in the mountains. His aloof personality confuses Gotz, but nevertheless the carpenter is accepting and kind.
